Total upload limit

Question

Hi,
I'm asking participants to upload a photo in the survey. I'm not sure if the total capacity of the survey will interfere with the total number of participants who can participate in this survey.
What I am asking is:
if there is an upper limit to the amount of data a survey can collect, can I download the data and make more space? Would I have to end the survey administration period and download data and relaunch it?
Would Sosci inform me if I'm reaching an upper limit?
I have a free student/academic account.

When using www.soscisurvey.de the limit per survey is 64 MB.

No, it would not. However, it will currently also not stop the survey (and go over the limit), but this behavior could change at any time, i.e., if it is abused.

can I download the data and make more space?

The general idea is to keep all the data together instead of downloading/delting/causing inconsistent data and other problems.

If each image uploaded is 4mb (upper limit) that would limit that participants to 16. I expect the images to be smaller in size as they are photographs taken from phone, but I was hoping for much larger sample size, e.g. 500+ participants over 90 days. What do you suggest I should do in this case.

500 participants x 4 MB = 2 GB - sorry, we cannot provide this as part of our free service. Running more than 10.000 projects for free won't simply allow us that.

You can contact your university to set up a survey server (also available for free, see https://www.soscisurvey.de/en/academic#server-licence) - or you can buy additional disk space for your project (25 € per GB and month).

The university set up will allow me to use the university server as a server host and hence no limit on survey data?

If the university sets up a local SoSci Survey, it will run on their webserver, and you will have to discuss eventual limitations with them :)

We have that very rarely (only few projects work with videos or image uploads so far), therefore we don't have a website at the moment. I can offer you 2 GB for up to 3 months for 49 € plus tax (if applicable). This includes daily backup with multiple incremental backups versions - quite useful, if the data is important.
