How to fix a .xml download problem?

I would like to re-use a script that was archived. I followed the instructions by downloading the .xml script but a message error telling me that the file cannot be opened appears.
How can I fix this problem and use this old script?

Please make sure to store the XML download on the local disk without opening it first.

Then create a new project and import the XML file there.

If opening the XML file in a word procession of tabsheet software, it will be interpreted as document or tabsheet and undergo changes to the file structure and content. SoSci Survey will then be unable to read the file.

If the above procedure does not solve the problem, please post the exact error message.
