Why does my required question become two warnings?

I have checked the "Required" option ("This question must be answered") next to a description and a question type (multiple choice). Why does a user get both of the following warnings if they do not choose an option?

"Please choose at least 1 option(s)!"

"Please also answer this question – Your answer to this question is of importance to this study."

How can I limit it to one warning?

This behavior is intended: One line days that SoSci Survey considers the page insufficiently answered, the other tell what's wrong.

You can change the wording in Text Elements and Labels, however, both messages will appear. Should we receive information that this is irritating for respondents, we shall consider changing the behavior.
