Hello, good afternoon,

I wanted to quickly check if any changes had been made in the backend to the slider question? We are currently running a survey that has a custom implementation of a temperature slider that includes an image link and javascript code, which we had pretested extensively the week before last; we just double checked the survey content and saw that slider no longer presented as we had coded it - we find that the image we had selected has been reset to "default slider". We were wondering if at least we could figure out at what point this was reset and if it's due to some changes to how the slider is implemented?

Thanks a lot for your support!

No such change (reset to "default slider") was made to/by the software.

Are you using multiple languages in your survey? If that is the case, different slider images may be set for different language versions.

Were the metrics of the slider (the position of minimum/maximum) also reset?

Hello, thanks for the speedy reply!

Yes, we are using multiple languages, but we had multiple test runs with various personnel for each version, and the sliders worked well in all of them - that said, each version does use exactly the same variable for the slider (we use the manage-language function of sosci to change text languages), so I am not sure why the slider image might change across them.

Regarding the metrics, yes, this was reset also - we had set the temperature range to 12 - 28 degrees but the reset set it to 12 - 112. The pixels also reset to empty. I can reproduce this if I set up our version again and then change the image to default. Everything then swaps over to the default settings. This seems to have been what happened.

It is very unfortunate of course, but at least we can probably reverse engineer when the change happened from the data due to the change in metrics. I just wanted to double check there might be a timestamp with some backend changes to the slider that might have triggered a reset to default image. If there was no change, then it must have been a manual error by someone at some point.

In any case, thanks so much for the info!

SoSci Survey actually allows for different "translations" of the slider image for different languages. Please open the question and switch through the language versions then (flag symbol on the top).

As you wrote, a manual change is the most likely explanation who that changed. At least do I not have any information that would argue for a systematic issue.

ah yes, sorry, my mistake, they are all set to "use scale from base language" in this particular case - I just double checked again, and this is still the case
