I have a base survey that I usually edit (fix translation errors, etc.) and then use to update multiple separate projects. I have multiple projects as this allows me to have one link/ QR code per institution, which enables a good overview for clustering later on.

I need to update my survey (adding items) and want to essentially copy changes I make to the base survey project to the other ones. If i upload the updated xml file, it will delete my saved data in the project, but I have a workflow where up-to-data data is downloaded and analyzed automatically and want to maintain this setup.

Is there any way for me to update the survey projects without losing data, or can I re-upload data to these projects to maintain my workflow?

It might be more effective to mark links, instead: Marking a URL (r)

If it was just a set of items in a single question, the item direct import would be a sufficient option. However, if you plan for multiple changes, you may be more interested in our upcoming feature to edit contents via the REST API. If everything goes well, this will be available for testing (use a test copy of the project for testing, please) next week.
