We are planning a survey that might be accessed by several hundred participants at the same time (less than 5000 participants in total). What is the maximum number of participants that can fill out a survey simultaneously using SoSciSurvey (free academic version)?

There is no hard limit. It depends on other survey projects and how many respondents complete questionnaires there.

Usually, a few hundret respondents starting the questionnaire at the same time is fine. If they really click the button within the same second, some of them may perceive a delay of a few seconds.
