Random zeros in one column in our dataset

We have downloaded our data and have noticed in seemingly random cases that a zero will pop up as a response. Zero is also stored as a text element rather than an actual number. As zero is not a possible answer how could this appear and how should we treat the response?

Thank you for the information. I have read through and unfortunately this information does not cover the issue. Since asking this question I have noticed the zero also appears in the 'view data' tab. 0 is still not a valid outcome and seems to appear in genuine responses. Is there another reason why this might appear? For example, the participant landed on the page and chose not to answer and skip through but the question had filter logic on it?

It covers the in so far as it refers to the option "view data" in SoSci Survey. Please check what value is shown there ("0" or anything else?) to discriminate if it's a data issue or an import issue.
