will sections be joined after publishing?

Question

First-time user of SoSciSurvey, this is a very impressive project!

I had started with two sections from the template list: Name & Registration, and Social Demographics. It seemed logical to keep them separated.

When I was ready for a first test I went to "pretest and preview" but then I get a link to only one of the sections, and when I choos the first one, the preview does not automatically advance to the second.

Is this by design? I built the survey assuming that all the sections would be visited and their responses collected together.

SoSci Survey separated between the list of questions and how they are presented in the survey.

Both packages bring along their sample questionnaires, which you'll find in Compose Questionnaire -> Manage Questionnaires. Maybe, there's another (empty) one.

While the "Name & Registration" questionnaire template may be useful, the "Social Demographics" questionnaire is just a demo with all the questions, so you can see what you like, and pick that out for your questionnaire.

So, the next step for you is to choose one of the questionnaire or create another (empty) one and just drag & drop the questions on its pages in whatever order you want them to be shown: Compose the Questionnaire

Ah I see! I thought the sections at the top were carried through to the questionnaire itself, as as composite building blocks. I now made a new section "survey" and moved the questions of both sections into there.  I can export that in 1 go if I want. Not exactly as you described I know, if there's a good reason to still change it I will!

Well, if your goal is to "export" a section as XML file, then that's fine ... however, you won't see a questionnaire with the questions without composing the questionnaire :)
