Hello,

I am trying to send invitation emails to my respondents. My survey is available in 20 languages, and I have entered all 20 translations in the mailing section.

However, I can’t find an easy way to automatically send each respondent the email in their corresponding language without creating 20 separate mailings.

I saw that the LANG variable in the contact list might be used for this purpose, but I’m not sure how to implement it.

Could you please clarify whether SoSci can automatically match the mailing language to the respondent’s LANG value?

Thank you very much for your help.

You're absolutely right: The LANG entry needs to be set for each respondent. It expects a three-letter ISO 639-2 language code, corresponding to the code that you find in the "language versions" settings of SoSci Survey.

If a LANG is available, the respective translation of the mailing will be used. Otherwise the default language is sent.

You can create a table with the email address in one column and the language code in another colum and import that into your address list. If you select to only update the address entries, all other information is preserved.
