SPSS - arabic characters are not visible

In our questionnaire, we have arabic/latin answer possibilities. When we download the data as an excel everything is in the original language, but if we download the data in SPSS we just can see question marks.How can we fix this problem?

SPSS sometimes still has issues with international characters.

Make sure that SPSS is working in UTF-8 (Unicode) mode. Also make sure to select the Unicode mode in the SoSci Survey download. Then chances are good that tthe characters arrive in SPSS like they should.

If not, please try the SPSS import using two files. Here, also make sure to enable the unicode (UTF-8) options everywhere.
