DNS settings

Hello everyone,

Hope you are well.

I have been experiencing issues with my serial mail where recipients are not properly receiving emails from me even after changing the sender address to mailer@soscisurvey.de. I have reached out to an external SMTP service provider but before I can proceed, they have mentioned adding a custom DKIM record and modify SPF record in the DNS settings.

I am not quite sure what this means or if this is possible to do? If so, how do I gain access to the DNS settings?

What you are looking for is (probably) this manual:
Serial Mails and SPF Entries

even after changing the sender address to mailer@soscisurvey.de

If you change to the generic address, the SPF/DNS records won't be the issue. And SoSci Survey also adds the proper DKIM. In that case it's most likely some spam filter that does not like invitations to surveys.

A DNS record is something configure for your domain. So, if you are the owner of example.com, you can log in at your domain hoster and select a function to edit the DNS settings.

If you do not own the domain that belongs to your email address, there is nothing you can do about DNS settings at all :)

I see. However, since I am interested in sending out emails using mailer@soscisurvey.de, how does the instructions from the SMTP service provider relate to this? Should I send from my own email address instead?

You can only send emails using mailer@soscisurvey.de when the emails are sent via www.soscisurvey.de. Using an extern SMTP server makes sense only when using a different sender address. Your own, for example. Depending on what the email domain of that address is.
