I saw on the homepage that server connection issues should be solved, but I am getting connection errors on my computer (not my phone). In Denmark. Any advice?

Possibly something in the cache of your browser?

Please try another browser. If that works, a caching issue is likely (clear browser cache).

Definitely not a browser or cache issue. I used multiple browsers, cleared cache, changed DNS, flushed DNS cache, all to no avail. I contacted the University IT to see if they had an answer as it is only on their network. I am awaiting answers on that end too.But if you had more information on the outage on your end and how you fixed it, that is always helpful. Likely some certificate error with the fix...?

Works perfectly fine at home, so its likely some combination between the original outage/fix and the organisational firewall settings.

Also, I should ask now. Is there an export option to run a survey on a different server as a backup in case this happens while running a survey?

Actually there was not outage at our end at all. Instead there seemes to be a peering issue on one of the Internet nodes. Our temporary workaround was not to announce the IP addresses in that network anymore, so that all traffic uses another route.

Possibly, one of the Internet switches in your university network has an outdated routing table? Just a guess, because I unfortunately lack a valid explanation...

That depends on several criteria: https://www.soscisurvey.de/en/local

Fortunately, the Internet usually works fine (most of the time), and our servers are also quite stable. But something may always happen. This is true for our server as well as for any other server.

The "connection closed" however seems like a different problem. As your question implies some IT affinity, you may try a traceroute to www.soscisurvey.de and see if that works. The network analysis of your browser may also yield helpful information.

This makes sense. I will bring this up to them.

Thanks for your answers. And a great site.

Thanks! And sorry that my answers are not that helpful in this case. Internet routing is not exactly my field of expertise :)

Please also note that I have updates my above comment (traceroute + browser network analysis).
